Justice for a young man unfairly suspended while at home on a virtual class
The suspension for this young man should be completely removed and expunged from his record. He's only a boy and should not be held to the same legal standard as an adult. Furthermore, the punishment is egregious and will likely follow him his entire life unless it is removed. Individualized Educational Success
Intelligence can not be measured unilaterally. I do not know who’s quote that is but I saw it on Instagram and it came with a picture. It was a picture of a man, without about 8 different animals in front of him, from a fish to an elephant. The man told the animals that every one of them is to climb a tree and be measured on their success. Obviously, elephants and fish cannot climb trees, while the monkey was the clear superior. My point is the same tests, teachers, methods, schools and anything else generalized enough that it’s expected to be understood by everybody should never be assigned to two different students. There are people who excel in school. Valedictorians, A+ students, etc. Then there are students who do not. I ask you, why is it so fair to immediately assume these kids are dumb? Why is it so hard to think, “maybe if we used a different method, taught a different way, had a different teacher, put them in an environment they could enjoy learning in. That’s not what happens. Instead, if they don’t succeed the same exact way everyone else does, they must be unsuccessful. Schools need change. Teaching methods need changed. They should be individualized, and school should not be about getting the best grades you can. It should be about learning how each child learns, working with them individually, and driving each kid into success. The last thing that should ever be generally tested is millions of kids intelligence, because so many kids walk around believing they’re dumb when nobody’s focused on making learning an enjoyable, comfortable experience for them. I ask that some sort of test be developed. A survey. About comfortabilities, classrooms, teachers, subjects, and anything else. How can one learn as well as those around them, when their situation, their home, their way of thinking, their ability to learn is so different? Individualize learning. Focus on every kid. Stop excluding the misfits. Fix the schools. Do me a favor. Type “school is” into google. Read the recommended search terms.

“Last Spring American Sign Language (ASL) was officially added as a minor to the BGSU course curriculum, this year they have decided to remove it from the course curriculum which will mess up the degrees for many people including some in Special Education, Speech Pathology, Nursing, Counseling, Law Enforcement, ASL minors and those who have chosen ASL to fill their foreign language requirement. These courses are being replaced to keep pop culture. We would like to bring back Wellness Wednesdays! They were very beneficial to students and staff during our first semester. Teachers were able to have more planning time and time to help not only their students but their own children as well. Students didn't feel as much mental or emotional stress while we had Wellness Wednesdays. It's very overwhelming and mentally strenuous to have a full week of online school, dedicating almost all of our time to it and other club or sports activities we may attend, and that doesn't even mention just our daily life issues. Wellness Wednesdays gave everyone an escape from our online-converted lives, letting us be able to breathe.

Available ASL Classes Across The USA For Completion Of Foreign Launguage Requirements
Many students across the country are either deaf, hard of hearing, or nonverbal. With the availability of American Sign Language, they can learn something that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. If all American schools had American Sign Launguage classes available, then students who have the ability to learn ASL will no longer need to rely on a Ipad or other dependent communication system. This can also benefit students who will have a hard time meeting foreign language requirements due to a auditory proccessing condition, or is a visual learner. This will let students interact with students that speak ASL and supports inclusion and diversity. The definition of foreign is "Something strange or unfamiliar". Most kids in grade school today do not even know any basic ASL signs. We could all play devils advocate here and say we can't teach student every launguage, but what about a launguage that is just a visual form of our current American laungauge. Since this launguage is unfamiliar to many students, this will be considered foreign which means no reason this language class could not be counted as a completion of foreign laungauge requirements. With this in all school districts around the United States of America, more students will have someone to talk to at lunch, more students will have someone to help them in class and to partner up with, students will be able to take a fast food order or help someone who speaks ASL, and will be most beneficial in their future careers of anything pertaining to talking to people. Once we get a full petition we can take this to the state level of Pennsylvania then to the national level of the United States. If we win, ASL would count as a foreign language requriement completion and will be taught in all school districts around the United States of America. ��

Stand against the destruction of the Underground Railroad Mural.

Now the law school is attempting to prevent further controversy by having it covered over or removed. What this means, is the piece will be destroyed. While it is obvious to most people that caving to the prejudices of the moment is a poor way to make great art, nor a behavior we want to encourage in our future lawmakers, that is precisely what this kind of action does. Not only does it encourage a sad moderation in artistic expression, it also insults the intelligence of viewers as unable to perceive metaphor... something we all understand almost instinctually. More importantly than these far-sighted reasons, it is crucial to stop its intended destruction NOW. I cannot understand how anyone could see it as anything less than a masterpiece. I am especially bothered by those who see the African figures as anything less than heroic. Especially Harriet Tubman and the slave on the auction block who stands with the nobility and subtle disappointment of a Boddhisatva. The contrast between the portrayal of the allies and the portrayal of the collaborators is not only genius, but fully supported in artistic history from Degas to Fauvism to Picasso. It is also very clear that these criticisms are a sign of the times more than any considered or reasonable opinion. To suggest that we are unable as human beings to understand the struggles of other human beings simply because of physical difference is the ugly dark side of the empowerment movement. This piece successfully portrays both races in a way that is unflinchingly human. Neither seems to escape an honest portrayal, but it is very clearly critical of the white races. To say that anyone could look at the painting and say that it relieves white people of responsibility for slavery by making them green only makes sense when you don’t look at the painting as a whole. It is very clearly a chromatically consistent painting because of the interplay of the green, the purple and the rich reddish tones. If you painted the white people with any crayon caucasian flesh tones, they would not only look out of place, but they would stop the movement of the composition– thereby drawing even more of the viewers attention. Then maybe there would be an argument for putting them in too flattering a light. “You made them look like barbie or a ‘china girl’” would be the response. Even more poetically, the green color of the collaborators gives them the sickening otherworldliness that African narratives of slavery described in their first contact with Europeans. It lends them an air of death, of representatives of decay, of a culture on the cusp of its greatest defeat. Reading it from left to right, it is also purely American in the way it’s structure reflects Hollywood storytelling. The terrible beginning, the suffering of the second act, the minor victories that encourage the protagonist in the face of insurmountable odds. Even the epic scope of moving between the landmarks of history to the ordinary stories of unsung individuals. Finally, in the most Hollywood ending ever, the visual narrative ends with the hopeful white horse and the escape to freedom. But of course, everyone knows the story doesn’t end there. Everyone knows the white horse is both symbolic of hope, but also draws attention, and could foreshadow the coming war, the destruction of drugs on the African-American community, or even the skittish support of the white allies. The classical building in the distance is both a clichéd image of heavenly rest and reminder of the neoclassical facade of antebellum culture. It towers over the scene almost like a warning of the rise of white nationalism while also commenting on the ivory tower where the viewer now stands. The power of art is the unity of its perspective. How the extreme bias of the individual artist reaches out to the most individualistic parts of ourselves. We don't call art by committee 'art' and there is a reason for that. The value art has over every other assemblage of human ingenuity is its ability to preserve not only the attitudes of a time, but also the personal and intimate passions of artists. A divergence of opinions about a piece of art is the best we can hope for, because it is only in that civil but confrontational space that the law represents, that the true work of eliminating systemic racism can be done.
